V-73 Series
A better standard for telescopic fishing.
The V-73 Series is being developed as a family of premium 7'3" telescopic travel rods from Ventra Fishing, engineered around an ultra-compact collapsed architecture. The telescopic construction is not incidental — it is the reason the platform exists.
Every rod in the V-73 family will share the same proposition: 7'3" fishing capability, telescopic portability, serious performance.
02Why telescopic
The best rod is the one you have with you.
A conventional fishing rod performs brilliantly when you have planned to go fishing. But some of the best opportunities are not planned.
A river discovered while travelling. An hour beside a harbour. A lake on a family trip. A rod kept permanently in the car, the campervan or the backpack.
That is where telescopic architecture becomes compelling. Collapse a capable 7'3" rod to around 40–43 cm and it stops being something that has to be specifically packed for a fishing trip. It can simply come with you.
03The challenge
Telescopic shouldn't mean second best.
Telescopic rods have traditionally sat at the inexpensive end of the market: excessive weight, poor balance, crude actions, low-quality fittings and inconsistent guide alignment. Convenience, bought with compromise.
Making a rod collapse is relatively easy. Making a telescopic rod that serious anglers genuinely want to fish with is much harder — and that is the problem the V-73 platform is being built around.
Our objective is to progressively engineer out those compromises: action, balance, weight, guide architecture, component quality, sensitivity, durability and overall fishing feel.
Not a telescopic rod that is good enough for travelling — a genuinely good fishing rod that also happens to collapse small enough to travel almost anywhere.
First in development
V-73 L
Light / 7'3" / Telescopic / 5–25 g
The V-73 L is the first expression of that philosophy: a 7'3" Light-power telescopic travel rod, developed to combine extreme portability with the feel, balance and fishing performance expected from serious spinning equipment.
Current development targets include a collapsed length of no more than approximately 43 cm, 5–25 g lure capability and genuine freshwater and saltwater versatility. Specifications remain subject to prototype development and field testing.

One curve, then collapsed
The profile is drawn first as a single-piece rod. Only then is it resolved into telescopic sections, with the interfaces placed where the bend is least disturbed rather than at even intervals.
Each section wall is laid to carry the seat of the one above it, so load runs through the stack instead of stopping at it. The target is a telescopic blank that loads and recovers like a good two-piece.
05Hardware
Guides, seat and grip
Guide architecture is where most telescopic rods give themselves away. Ours are specified to stay aligned through repeated collapse and extension, stepped down so braid never slaps the blank on a long cast.
The machined seat locks with a knurled nut and is sealed against salt. The grip is textured for a wet hand and balanced against a 2000–2500 size reel at the seat.

07The V-73 platform
One length. Different missions.
V-73 is not intended to be a single rod. It is a 7'3" telescopic architecture designed to provide the foundation for different power configurations and fishing applications.
Ultra-light finesse. Versatile light spinning. More powerful applications. Different rods, the same telescopic proposition and the same Ventra Fishing standard.
The platform is being engineered to support additional power configurations in future. None of them are in production or announced.
First in development: V-73 L.
08Rod + reel. One system.
V-73 L + V-2500
The V-2500 from Ventra Fishing is the 2500-size reel concept being developed alongside the telescopic V-73 L: a compact light spinning combination balanced at the seat. Neither is a finished or currently available product.
09Where it fishes
Ground it was built for
The V-73 L is being specified around travel: hard walks, cabin bags and mixed water. A lure rod first, at home anywhere between a hill loch and a coastal mark.
Coast
Rock marks and estuary mouths where the walk in matters more than the tackle you own.
High water
Alpine lakes and hill lochs reached on foot, with the rod collapsed inside the pack.
River
Tight, wooded banks where a short collapsed length is the difference between fishing and not.
